The Independent Media Commission has issued a license to Capital Radio for a relay transmitter in Bo. Equipment is currently being purchased for a launch in the next few months. Capital Radio will be heard on 102.3 in Bo.

Capital Radio is 1 year old and has already become the leading commercial broadcaster in Sierra Leone. Thank you to our listeners and our loyal customers. We are all looking forward to another successful year.

August 2006 Freetown
Recently, Capital Radio has been suffering from interference to our signal in parts of Freetown. This has been caused by the deliberate (and unlawful) actions of another radio station in Freetown. Capital Radio is working with the Independent Media Commission to resolve this problem. We apologise to our listeners in the affected areas of the city.

Capital Radio began operations on the 1st July. The response from the audience and business community in Sierra Leone has been very encouraging. We look forward to a bright future in Sierra Leone. Reports from listeners are coming from as far as Bo and Conakry!

Our broadcast studios are now operational at the DSTV building in Wilkinson Road. Live programmes will start on the 1st July!

Test transmissions commenced on the 16th May at 1130. The transmission can be heard throughout much of the Western area of Sierra Leone.

After a longer than expected delay, we now have our equipment safely in Freetown. Engineers are working to allow us to start test transmissions.

Capital Radio has reached an agreement with the BBC World Service for the supply of a news service.

June 2005 London
Capital radio has purchased modern computer automation systems which will allow the station to operate for 24 hours per day. The systems are now being loaded with the music library.

May 2005 Freetown
An agreement has been put in place between Capital Radio and SLBS (Sierra Leone Broadcasting Service) to use facilities at their Leicester Peak radio site. This will give Capital Radio extensive coverage of the Western area.

March 2005 Freetown
capitalradio.sl Internet domain is registered with Sierratel. This is the 6th domain name registered in Sierra Leone! The IMC/Sierratel have allocated 104.9MHz for Capital Radio's transmissions.

Modern radio studio equipment has been purchased for Capital Radio in London, UK.

December 2004 Freetown
The Independent Media Commission have granted Capital Radio a license to broadcast in Sierra Leone.
